Features | | | Smart Student Data - Define the data your school or district needs to track.
- Your school sets up each field containing student information. If your secretaries need room for more information or the state mandates you track another piece of data, you can add a new field.
- Fields appear in the student's dashboard.
- You can create unlimited "tabs" to organize your fields in the Student Info screen.
- You can create numeric fields, checkboxes, text fields, long text boxes, pull-down menus, date fields, and logging fields (new)
- Upload Student Photos.
- Student photos can easily be uploaded from the photographer's CD.
- Photos appear on the student's screen and in teachers' attendance screen.
- Create powerful reports using advanced searching and easy, customizable reports.
- MOS-SIS users can search based on any student data -- the demographic data (including the fields you setup), scheduled classes, grades, attendance, eligibility, etc.
- Users can customize any report by adding any piece of student data.
- Administrators and teachers can generate targeted letters which include student data.
- Easily update information for groups of students.
- Backwards/Forwards buttons on all student screens (new)
- Back to most-recently viewed student list button
- Mass Assign Student Info Feature -- allows you to select a group of student and assign data en masse to all of them with a single click
| | User Management
- Secretaries & Administrative users
- Control what data each user can view and what data each user can change.
- Divide your users into profiles -- assign permissions to groups of people.
- Teachers
- MOS-SIS gives your teachers information about their students that allows them to teach more effectively.
- Teachers enter attendance on the computer
- Teachers have an online gradebook
- Teachers are held accountable. Reports allow secretaries and administrators to monitor the completion of attendance, grading, and eligibility.
- Parents & Students
- Parents can track their students in real-time.
- New Assignments
- Due Dates
- Grades
- Absences
- Discipline incidents
- Students can monitor their own information.
- Create Profiles for other users
- You can customize access for any user that needs access to student data or enters data for students. For Example:
- Create a profile for nurses so that nurses can view a student's parent data (to call a sick student's parents or emergency contacts.) and add information to a medical screen (a screen you setup for the nurses).
- Create a profile for guidance counselors allowing them to view a student's grades, schedule, and discipline history. Create a guidance screen with a logging field to track visits to the guidance office.
| | Simplified Grading - Intuitive web-based gradebook for teachers.
- Teachers can do their grades from home.
- Teachers don't need to import the students in their classes.
- At the end of each term, final grades can be calculated automatically by the gradebook, or teachers can enter grades by hand.
- Grades can be weighted by category.
- Teachers can choose to exclude certain assignments from the final score.
- MOS-SIS produces report cards and transcripts with the click of a button. These documents can be customized with student data, school logos, etc.
- GPA and class rank is calculated automatically, and can be locked-down by an administrator.
- Grades can be entered by hand -- facilitating importing grades from legacy systems and grades from courses taken outside of the school. (new)
- Each school can setup graduation requirements and track students who haven't met each requirement. (new)
- It's easy to pull-up a list of students whose GPA falls within a certain range, students who failed a class, students who got nothing but A's and B's, or students ranked number 1 through 45 in the class. Generating honor-roll using any criteria has never been easier.
- Secretaries can track in real time which teachers haven't yet entered final grades.
| | Attendance Tracking Maintaining accurate and verifiable attendance for state reporting has never been easier. Additionally, your attendance secretaries will love how much time they save calling home for each absent student. - No more paper attendance. Teachers take attendance on their computer through a web-browser.
- Teachers can view student photos from the Take Attendance screen by moving the cursor over a student's name.
- Attendance is real-time. As soon as teachers take attendance, secretaries in the attendance office can see which students were absent.
- MOS-SIS supports both daily and period-by-period attendance.
- System administrators define the attendance codes, so schools can keep track of many different types of absences and tardies.
- Attendance secretaries have convenient access to all contact information for a student simply by moving the cursor over the phone icon in the list of absent students.
- Attendance secretaries can change the attendance from the daily calling list (also called Attendance Administration).
- Absences can be added en mass to a group of students. This makes it simple for secretaries to add the absences for a class going on a field trip or a team leaving school early for a sporting event.
- Secretaries can track in real time which teachers haven't yet taken attendance.
- It's easy to pull-up a list of students with a certain number of absences.
- Aggregated attendance numbers (like ADA) important in state reporting can be calculated on-the-fly over any date range. You can even break down these figures by grade, by school, or do demographic groupings.
| | Scheduling - MOS-SIS will schedule even the most unconventional master schedules.
- Courses can be all-year, or a single term.
- Students can take only one term of a full-year course.
- Courses can meet Monday through Friday or any number of days of the week.
- Courses are divided into weights, so certain classes can be weighted more or less than others.
- A teacher can teach more than one course on any period.
- Two classes can take place in the same room.
- Classes can have set limits on:
- Available seats
- Gender
- Calendar
- Classes can be excluded from attendance, grading, and GPA.
- Classes can be linked together (for example: you might want to link a lab section with a science section).
- After student course requests have been entered, and the master schedule is setup, MOS-SIS's innovative recursive scheduler will schedule your school perfectly in minutes (or less).
- Attendance is maintained for classes that are added or dropped during the course of the year.
- Administrators and teachers can print schedules, request sheets, and customized class lists with the click of a button.
- Courses can be added to schedules en mass to groups of students.
- Intuitive scheduling reports make it fast and simple to tweak master schedules.
